Jaiden Govender wins coveted Dux

He secured seven distinctions, three subject awards, 23 trophies, 11 certificates and achieved an aggregate of 91%.

Port Shepstone Secondary celebrated academic excellence and holistic achievement at the Grade 12 awards evening held in the school hall last Wednesday.

The ceremony honoured and showcased the achievements of learners across academic and extra-curricular realms. The air was electric with anticipation as more than 300 individuals gathered to honour the brightest stars.

The coveted Dux award winner, the brilliant Jaiden Govender, secured seven distinctions, three subject awards, 23 trophies, and 11 certificates and achieved an aggregate of 91%.

Jaiden’s discerning academic record since primary school proves that he is a natural at mathematics, accounting and physical sciences. He aspires to leverage his sound skills and knowledge towards his career choice in engineering.

Sphesihle Precious Nqumako was the Dux Approxime winner with an 89% aggregate and received six distinctions and four subject awards, while Jezelle Mackayla Govender placed third with an 87% aggregate and received six distinctions and four subject awards.

Both learners exemplify the character traits of outstanding, diligent students. Other shining stars who boasted five distinctions were Yumna Mohamed Hoosen, Mia Naidoo (one subject award) and Arshia Ramsaroop.
